DESCRIPTION
The L584 is designed to drive injector solenoids in electronic fuel injection systems and generally inductive loads for automotive applications. The device is controlled by two logic inputs and features switch mode regulation of the load current driving an external darlington and an auxiliary one for the current recirculation. A key feature of the L584 is flexibility. It can be used with a variety of darlingtons to match the requirements of the load and it allows both simple and two level current control. Moreover, the drive waveshape can be adjusted by external components. Other features of the device include dump protection, thermal shutdown, a supply voltage range of 4.75 - 46V and TTL-compatible inputs. The L584is supplied in a 16lead Powerdip package which uses the four center pins to conduct heat to the PC board copper.
