CHAPTER 3 CPU ARCHITECTURE

3.1.2 Internal data memory (internal high-speed RAM) space

The µPD789188 and 78F9189 Subseries provide 512-byte internal high-speed RAM.

The internal high-speed RAM can also be used as a stack memory.

3.1.3 Special function register (SFR) area

Special function registers (SFRs) of on-chip peripheral hardware are allocated to an area of FF00H to FFFFH

(see Table 3-3).

3.1.4 Data memory addressing

Each of the µPD789188 Subseries is provided with a wide range of addressing modes to make memory

manipulation as efficient as possible. A data memory area (FD00H to FFFFH) can be accessed using a unique

addressing mode according to its use, such as a special function register (SFR). Figures 5-4 through 5-6 illustrate

the data memory addressing modes.
